Social Hour
Who
Social Hour is a two-part business from creative multi-hyphenate Kaitlin McDermott — a social media strategist for brands (Social Hour Media) and a wedding content creator for brides (Social Hour Weddings). One brand, two very different audiences.
When Kaitlin reached out, she was ready to level up her online presence, but wasn’t sure how to represent both sides of her business equally — without making the site feel overwhelming or confusing to navigate. She needed a website that was dynamic, fun, and reflective of her personality, but also strategically structured so visitors could immediately find the right path depending on what they were looking for.
What
From day one, this was a collaborative process. Kaitlin brought in Jessie of First Rodeo Creative (who is one of my business besties!) to write her website copy, and together the three of us strategized the structure and sitemap to keep both sides of the business distinct and cohesive.
One of the earliest ideas I pitched was a homepage toggle — something fun and interactive that would let users switch between the business and wedding sides of her work. What started as a rough sketch turned into one of my proudest technical builds to date. It took many, many hours of custom code, but the end result is seamless and so satisfying.
Other favorite features: the interactive quiz on the homepage, a “video wall” on the For Brides page (built to showcase Kaitlin’s vertical wedding content), a scalloped header, fun hover effects throughout, vertical accordions on the Services pages, and dual contact forms to route inquiries to the right place. Every detail was designed to make the experience feel cute, playful, and easy to use — whether you’re planning your wedding or hiring Kaitlin for a content strategy retainer.
The final site is girly, energetic, and full of movement — a perfect digital home for someone who spends her days behind the camera, helping others show up online.
