Market-G Social House

Who

Market-G Social House is a modern social media firm, founded by Katie Greenstone. They’re based in Metro-Detroit and traveling (almost) always — as a native Detroiter, it was so much fun to work with a local brand!

As a brand without a physical office or HQ, their website serves as not only their online home, but their primary home. It’s a space to welcome clients, showcase their work, and build a community. We designed it to feel inviting, fresh, and a little cheeky, just like Market-G itself, so that their potential clients’ first impressions of their brand would be spot-on.

Katie and her team of creators offer a combination of organic strategy, UGC, growth tactics, and content creation. Their clients include local restaurants and chefs, real estate firms, small businesses, and more. With such a diverse portfolio and wide range of offerings, they needed a website to reflect ALL of who they are.

When Katie started Market-G, she DIYed a logo and called it a day. While their previous website was professionally designed, it didn’t extend their brand presence much further, and while they came across as polished and professional, their brand lacked the personality and playfulness that their clients knew and loved them for. In other words, Katie liked their brand identity, but wanted MORE.

What

When I first started working with Market-G, I focused on how to zhuzh up their brand identity and make their website show more of their personality — WITHOUT doing a complete rebrand. We kept their existing logo and color palette, adding one additional green for versatility, and chose a fresh new heading font to complement their go-to sans serif.

For the website, I came up with some additional signature brand elements that Market-G could be recognized by — phone-inspired UI elements, oval shapes, super clean imagery, and vibey little icons and symbols.

The most fun part of this project — and what REALLY brought it to life — was sourcing the perfect stock photos. Katie wanted Market-G’s imagery to be heavily inspired by her travels, namely to Italy and Hawaii, but she also wanted it to convey a little bit of cheekiness, especially because her favorite clients to work with all share a sense of humor.

The photos I sourced for Market-G add tons of color and personality to the website, giving you a little taste of what it’s like to work with Katie and her team IRL! (The word “taste”, in this sense, is almost literal, as we used lots of close-up detail shots of food like bread and spaghetti.)

The final website strikes a perfect balance between professionalism and personality. It’s a manifestation of Market-G’s playful, approachable energy, and simultaneously maintains the polished look their clients expect. Every detail was carefully chosen to give visitors a sense of who Katie and her team are, and they love the result!

Take it from Katie herself — she said, “I had a CEO of a VERY large publication say he saw my website and that "I had it going on". I also feel so confident sending people to my website now whereas before, I didn't!”
